Inflammatory condition of the liver is known as hepatitis. It is commonly caused by viral infection. These are Hepatitis A,B,C,D and E. Other non infectious causes include drugs, alcohol, toxins, autoimmune disorders etc. Hepatitis can be acute or chronic.
Hepatitis A and E spread by faeco-oral route. Eating food and water contaminated with the virus cause the disease.
Hepatitis B and C spread when there is direct contact with the bodily fluids such as blood, semen, vaginal secretions of the infected person. Contact with infected needles, razors, sexual intercourse with the infected person are some of the causes.
Hepatitis D is a serious disorder and only occurs in patients infected with Hepatitis B virus.
Other causes: Autoimmune disorders, toxins, alcohol etc.
Autoimmune hepatitis is a liver illness that occurs when a person's immune system destroys their liver cells. This syndrome causes a malfunctioning liver, which can lead to organ-related problems. It is unknown what causes this condition, however autoimmune hepatitis is thought to be caused by certain genes. Necrosis (the loss of living cells in the liver), hepatocellular inflammation, and eventually cirrhosis are all symptoms of autoimmune hepatitis (scarring of the liver).
Hepatoprotective and anti inflammatory herbs from renowned drug companies along with the diet plan are prescribed.
Autoimmune hepatitis is a disease that can be managed with Ayurvedic remedies but one also needs to make lifestyle changes to keep body’s immunity in good shape.
