Stress is the body’s reaction to any change that requires an adjustment or response. The body reacts to these changes with physical, mental and emotional responses. Stress is normal part of our life. The stress is something which is experienced by our body, environment or in our thoughts. All the negative and positive events can cause some amount of stress in our life.
There are some warning signs of stress in our life. Let’s have a look on what are they: –
Dizziness, general aches and pains, grinding teeth, clenched jaw, headaches, indigestion, acid reflux symptoms, increase or loss of appetite, muscle tension in neck, face or shoulder, problem in sleeping pattern, palpitation, cold and sweaty palms, weight gain or loss, upset stomach, diarrhoea, sexual difficulties.
There are various causes of stress like being under lot of pressure, facing big changes, worrying about something, not having much or any control over the outcome of situation, having responsibilities that are overwhelming, not having enough work, activities or changes in life, times of uncertainty etc.
Stress seems to worsen or increase the risk of conditions like obesity, heart disease, Alzheimer’s disease, diabetes, depression., gastrointestinal problems and asthma etc.
There are various preventive measures that can be taken to reduce stress are:- exercise regularly, have a proper and balanced diet, take proper sleep of 8 hrs, various relaxation techniques like panchakarma therapy, aroma therapy, yoga, meditation: connect with people; laughter therapy, behavioural therapy etc.
It has been seen that patient who opt. ancient treatment method for treating stress get a good result in reducing their stress and also in improving the quality of life and confidence.
The therapies can be shirodhara, nasya, rasayan therapy, shiro basti, yoga therapy, meditation, laughter therapy. Along with the other therapies are also administered to improve the overall health of the patient which depends on the disease they are having along with stress. And apart from this various ayurvedic herbs are also administered like Ashwagandha, Shatavri, Shankhpushpi, Brahmi, Mandukaparni, Yashtimadhu, Guduchi etc.
