Vamana therapy means to induce a controlled vomiting in you. This controlled vomiting is planned and induced. It runs for a specific time.
The purpose of Vamana therapy is to expel out the increased Kapha Dosha from the body. Then medicated ghee is given for snehpana depending on the lakshan shown by the body. Finally after achieving snehpana lakshan abhyanga and swedan is given and then controlled vomiting is induced by giving kashayam.
After administering kashayam patient would perspire which means that doshas have started melting.
After this patient would have horripilation which means doshas started moving from there place followed by abdominal distension which signals that doshas have reached intenstine.
Then doshas started coming upwards which is inficated by nausea and salivation.
At this stage the patient should sit comfortably on a chair. He must be well covered and have an handkerchief with him. A spittoon to be kept in front of him. Support should be given on his forehead, back and chest. Massage should be done on the back of the patient.
Bouts of patients are always counted and his lakshans are mentioned at every stage.
Patient should vomit till the Pitta appears. Pitta looks like yellow colorand it is sticky. When pitta comes out this indicates complete expulsion of Kapha.
